How Did This series come to be?
Intro to K4 Company
In mid 2017, four young Ken Production seiyuu, Komatsu Shohei, Masuyama Takeaki, Masumoto Takuya, and Hama Kento, donned white tees and sat on cardboard boxes aiming to Be A Big Company in the ‘startup company success story’ variety program K4 Company, broadcast weekly for free on Nizista Channel. As their fanbase has grown, they’ve upgraded to real chairs and button up shirts, held numerous events, released two CD singles, a music video, and various merch. Recently, they’ve announced a collab cafe, a stage event at Animate Girls Fest 2019, and most exciting: the character music project HANDEAD ANTHEM.K4 Company is somewhat unique among online seiyuu programs in both the (unexpectedly) high quality of the product, and the amount of input the personalities themselves have in the content, merch, and overall direction of the show. The seiyuu have always collaborated closely with the showrunners at Nizista to brainstorm doofy new goods and event activities. HANDEAD ANTHEM is no different: each member of K4 voices one character in each team, and had input on names, personality, and backstory for the four characters in the team they voice the leader of. As such, there are quite a lot of in-jokes and references to K4 Company and the seiyuu themselves hidden in the character descriptions.

Story & world
In a world once ruled by a cruel dictator, living humans, now known as Alivers, were collectively brainwashed into mindlessly working 15 hours a day. While their bodies remained alive, their hearts and souls were dead. They could no longer reach towards their everyday hopes and dreams.Year 21XXHandead. Simultaneously half-alive and half-dead, they are the only beings capable of reanimating an Aliver’s heart. So proclaimed these zombies of passion:
Become half dead and find happiness!To combat this crisis, the most capable and distinguished handead came together to form an organization known as Dead&Alive (DAA). For the sake of turning all of humanity into handead, they spread their message to the brainwashed Alivers through the popular music genre EDM.Four branches of the DAA, collectively known as the D4, are particularly admired among the handead for their charisma and skill: the Hiroshima HQ, the Fukuoka Branch, the Kouchi Branch, and the Okinawa Branch.Today as well, the members of Dead&Alive work ceaselessly to turn new handead.
glossary (WIP)
Handead: Half (han) zombies that resist the effects of the global brainwashing while also maintaining their sense of self and consciousness.
Aliver: Fully alive humans who live dull and monotonous lives due to brainwashing.
Zendead: Full (zen) zombies. Their whole body is Dead, and they will attack Handead and Alivers alike.
Crazy Bee: The handead's enemies. If a handead is stung twice by a crazy bee then they will become a zendead. The area around the sting develops a mark similar to a flower shape.
Dead Injection: One method of turning alivers into handead.
Dead Point: Areas of a handead's body that are Dead (rotten). Look idk how they still function but it's a zombie series we goin with it. You can view these on the official site's profiles by clicking the little D button.

At only 15 years old, he became the head of DAA’s Fukuoka branch despite being the youngest member of the organization at the time. His mystical charisma naturally draws people in, and was what influenced the other members of deva to join the DAA. He’s actually tone-deaf, which undermines his ability to utilize the handead’s greatest weapon, music. However, he covers for this weakness through his hard work and charms. When Ko is not busy with the DAA, he works part time at a university hospital as a clinical psychologist. Nora (Yona) was his patient before he moved.
His days are focused on saving as many people as he can, but he spends many a night unable to sleep, caught up in his past mistakes.

Atsuhide’s life has been saved twice, once by his little sister and once by Ko. His heart originally belonged to someone else. In gratitude for saving his life, he works hard as Ko’s right hand man to support deva. He doesn’t get along with Takakage, but according to Ko they work surprisingly well together. Travel buddies with Zumi (HIGH-TIDE). He’s good at cooking, often making meals for his teammates.

5 years ago, Takakage found himself at the lowest point of his life but was saved by Ko’s singing voice. Since then, he’s been been abnormally obsessed with him. Takakage is a capable and efficient member of deva, always taking the initiative on DAA work. He finds Atsuhide, a long-time acquaintance of Ko, to be a nuisance. His Dead Point on his right arm is in the same location as his leader, and it throbs when he receives praise from Ko. He’s childhood friends with Tengai (B.U.H) as their family homes back in Hiroshima were very close.

Raised by his grandparents, Shino is a middle schooler with rather old-fashioned hobbies and expressions. Since becoming a member of deva he’s been living at Ko’s house. Has a bright and amiable personality, making him the team’s resident moodmaker, but on rainy days he tends to suffer from migraines. Shino regularly gets hand-me-down clothes from Deki (B.U.H) since he has no interest in fashion himself. Board game buddies with Rikyo (B.U.H), Zumi (HIGH-TIDE), and Nora (Yona).

Ryu joined the DAA with the goal of turning a handead that can swim faster than him. His head's head full of swimming and not much else.
He regularly travels around the world but also serves as the landlord of "shark House", where the other members of HIGH-TIDE currently live. He often frets over his half brother Kuramu (B.U.H). He's absolutely terrible with technology, and keeps accidentally leaving the HIGH-TIDE groupchat and needing to be re-invited.TL note: Ryu speaks partially in an Okinawan dialect. Exact locations of his dead points are unconfirmed as the source is too blurry to read atm.
